Institute of Digital Marketing New Zealand · Certification Courses

Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern enrolment in the certification courses provided by the Institute of Digital Marketing New Zealand (“IDNZ”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By enrolling in a certification course and/or activating access to the online learning portal, you (“the student”, “you”) agree to these Terms. Separate terms may apply to masterclasses, workshops, and other non-certification offerings.

Questions: godigital@id.ac.nz

1.Examination Fees

1.1The examination fee is $500 plus GST per attempt. The first examination attempt is included in the course fee.
1.2Examinations are administered by IDNZ as a timed, proctored exam. Proctoring software monitors your computer desktop, webcam video, and audio for the duration of the exam. By booking an exam, you consent to this monitoring.

2.Study Term and Exam Eligibility

2.1The programme is delivered fully online and comprises approximately 30 hours of learning over 11 weeks, though actual completion time depends on individual student pace.
2.2Students are responsible for planning their own study within a 6-month study term, commencing on confirmation of enrolment and/or activation of the learning management system (whichever occurs first).
2.3Candidates must sit their exam within 6 months of completing the certification. We recommend booking the first exam 3–6 weeks after course completion. Exam dates are subject to availability, and students who do not book in advance may find limited dates remaining.
2.4Candidates are entitled to a total of three (3) exam attempts. If a candidate fails the first attempt, any further attempts must be completed within the 6-month eligibility period.
2.5IDNZ does not offer exam eligibility extensions. It is the candidate’s responsibility to book and complete all exam attempts within the eligibility period.
2.6After the eligibility period expires, a student who has not completed their exam will need to re-enrol in the course to sit the exam. Further information is available at www.id.ac.nz/exam.

3.Certification Student Engagement

3.1Students enrolled in certification courses are required to book and attend at least one (1) one-to-one mentoring session per week throughout the course period. These sessions are a compulsory condition of enrolment, not an optional extra.
3.2It is the student’s responsibility to schedule each weekly one-to-one mentoring session in advance. Students are expected to demonstrate a clear intention to complete the course within the 11-week study period and to actively participate in their learning plan.
3.3Where a student fails to attend the required weekly one-to-one mentoring sessions, does not make reasonable progress, or does not engage with required learning activities, IDNZ reserves the right to suspend or terminate enrolment at its discretion. IDNZ will provide written notice before exercising this right, and any termination will be carried out in good faith and consistent with our obligations under New Zealand law.

4.Online Learning Portal Access

4.1Access to the online learning portal (the IDNZ learning management system) is granted for the standard course duration of 11 weeks. Access will expire at the end of this 11-week period unless the student communicates with IDNZ to arrange an extension before that period ends.
4.2Extensions are not automatic. A student who requires additional time must request an extension in writing by emailing godigital@id.ac.nz before their access expires. Extensions are granted at the sole discretion of IDNZ and may be subject to a fee. The total period of access, including the initial 11 weeks and any extensions, must not exceed 6 months from the original activation date.
4.3The online learning portal provides the foundational blueprint of the programme. The current trends, insights, and industry best practice that build on this foundation are delivered through the weekly one-to-one mentoring sessions, where the mentor contextualises and updates the material for the student. The portal content is reviewed and updated every 6 to 12 months, and portal access applies only to the version of the course relevant to the student’s enrolment period.

5.Cooling-Off Period and Cancellation

5.1Students are entitled to a cooling-off period of 2 working days, beginning on the day the student is provided with access to the online learning portal (which constitutes conclusion of the contract).
5.2To cancel within the cooling-off period, the student must email godigital@id.ac.nz expressing their intention to cancel.
5.3On valid cancellation within the cooling-off period, a refund will be issued less a $1,865 + GST administration fee, comprising:
  • (a)Student registration — $500
  • (b)Learning portal administration — $500
  • (c)Mentor delegation — $500
  • (d)Exam setup — $365
This refund will be processed without undue delay and no later than 5 working days after cancellation.
5.4Where payment was made via Stripe, third-party Stripe processing fees are non-refundable.
5.5Where enrolment included a promotional free gift, the recommended retail price (RRP) of that gift will be deducted from any refund.
5.6Where the course was funded in whole or part by the Management Capability Development Fund (MCDF) or Regional Business Partner (RBP) funding, the student must repay the full funded amount to IDNZ.

6.Refunds

6.1Because the learning portal provides instant, downloadable, and continuously accessible digital content, IDNZ does not offer refunds once the portal has been activated, except as set out in clause 5 or as required by law.
6.2Activation of the portal using your access code is treated as use of the service and acceptance of these Terms, and grants you full access to the complete digital content of your registered course.

7.Face-to-Face Sessions via Cloud Meeting

7.1Students may enrol at any time to access the online learning portal and begin studying.
7.2Face-to-face cloud meetings with digital coaches are optional support provided by IDNZ.
7.3One-to-one online cloud meetings are generally fixed at one hour per module per week.
7.4Only Zoom meeting links issued directly by IDNZ are valid for online sessions. These are provided only after payment has been received and confirmed.
7.5Access to the online learning portal is granted once the course fee has been paid in full (subject to any agreed instalment arrangement under clause 9).

8.Intellectual Property

8.1All content provided by IDNZ — including all website text, graphics, logos, images, software, and course materials — is the property of IDNZ (www.id.ac.nz) and is protected by New Zealand and international intellectual property laws.
8.2Students are granted a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access and use course content for their own personal learning. Students may not reproduce, distribute, resell, or publicly share course content without IDNZ’s prior written consent.
8.3No downloading, copying, recording, or replication of any material from the online learning portal is permitted. All portal content remains the intellectual property of IDNZ and is provided for online access only. Any attempt to download, extract, reproduce, or replicate portal material—in whole or in part—is a breach of these Terms and of IDNZ’s intellectual property rights, and may result in immediate termination of enrolment without refund, in addition to any other remedies available to IDNZ under New Zealand law.

9.Payment Terms

9.1Students are granted access to online content once course fees are paid in full, unless an instalment arrangement has been agreed in writing with IDNZ.
9.2Where an instalment arrangement applies, failure to make payments by the agreed dates may result in withdrawal from the programme and revocation of access. IDNZ will provide written notice before withdrawing a student for non-payment.
9.3Fees paid up to the point of withdrawal are non-refundable and non-transferable, except where a refund is required under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other applicable law.

10.Start Date

10.1Access to your online programme is granted once the course fee is paid. Your official start date is the first day of activation of your online learning portal.
10.2For masterclasses or workshops, please email your preferred date. IDNZ will confirm and book your place.

11.Validity of Invoices

11.1An invoice issued by IDNZ is valid for 7 days from the date of issue.
11.2IDNZ reserves the right to withdraw an invoice within this period by notifying the student in writing.

12.Deferrals

12.1Certification students may apply to defer participation in extreme circumstances for a maximum period of 3 months.
12.2Deferrals are available only to students who have paid course fees in full and are granted at the discretion of IDNZ.
12.3Participation will not be deferred while any fee remains outstanding on the student account.

13.Privacy

13.1IDNZ collects, stores, and uses personal information (including exam proctoring data) in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. Information is used to administer your enrolment, deliver services, and meet our legal obligations. You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information by contacting godigital@id.ac.nz.

14.Governing Law

14.1These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

15.Changes to These Terms

15.1IDNZ may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to enrolled students in writing. The Terms in force at the time of your enrolment apply to your course.
